Heath Ledger was given a lot of freedom in his role as the Joker, and Tom Hardy knew this was a big factor in Ledger's ability to define the character; to really bring him to life. But Bane's destruction scene was more choreographed than the Joker's, so naturally there would be considerably less opportunity to improvise.
